Kai Greene gets Special Invite to 2017 Mr. Olympia

Will Kai Greene Compete at 2017 Mr. Olympia?

Kai Greene gets Special Invite to 2017 Mr. Olympia

Breaking News: Kai Greene gets special invite from Jim Manion to Mr. Olympia 2017. This news was released this weekend and it shocked the bodybuilding world. Typically to qualify for the Mr. Olympia you have to either win a bodybuilding show or qualify on points during the calendar year. Due to the fact that Kai hasn’t competed since the 2016 Arnold Classic, it was looking as if Kai was going to sit out the 2017 season.

Will Kai Green Compete at the 2017 Mr. Olympia?

With just 12 weeks to go until the Mr. Olympia, I give it about a 10% chance that Kai competes. It normally takes 16 weeks of dieting and training to get ready for the Olympia and although Kai stays in great shape year round, I don’t see him jumping into the fray this year. It is disappointing because I think the Olympia needs Kai.

If Kai competes, can he win?

If Kai competes, he is destined to be in the top 2, and if Phil is at 90%, Kai can dethrone the champ.

Stay tuned for more breaking news.

Scorecard:

Olympia-16-Men-212-1.jpg

Top 5:

1 .Phil Heath: Phil was Phil. Best back on stage, great muscle bellies. Still not the Phil we saw earlier this decade. Waist keeps getting wider. Back is lights out. Friday night I had Dexter winning, although Saturday I think they made the right decision.

2. Shawn Rhoden: Shawn looked great. I would have had him third behind Dexter but not extremely upset with the decision.

2931-shawn-rhoden-29_final.jpg

3. Dexter Jackson: Dexter is the man. 47 years old. Looked amazing. Hard to imagine that this is the “third” best bodybuilder in the world.

1874-dexter-jackson-85_final.jpg

4. “Big Ramy”: What a difference 24 hours makes. Big Ramy was “small” by his standards on Friday. I’m assuming Chris Aceto tried keeping him small to show conditioning. Didn’t work. Came back Saturday and pushed to move up to the top 3. Insane size.

41262-mamdouh-elssbiay-159_final.jpg

5. William Bonac: The new Giant Killer. William Bonac has more muscle per square inch as anyone. Small waist, huge legs, great muscle bellies. If he was 5’9 he’d be your champion.

25398-william-bonac-77_final.jpg

The rest:

Roelly Winklaar (6th) showed us a physique straight out of Dr. Frankenstein. Look I know that many of you all will think he should win. He doesn’t get lean enough, he isn’t aesthetic, but damn is he huge. Markus Ruhl 2.0.

Cedric (7th) showed us that he just doesn’t nail it. Maybe he can’t, maybe his body won’t let him get leaner. He has an ideal physique to some.

McCarver (8th) is 25 years old. Yes only 25 years old and stood close to 285-290 pounds. If he would have been able to lean out another 5-10 pounds, he may have been top 5.

Josh Lenartowicz (9th) had a hell of a debut. He was shredded. Still needs to add some mass to his chest, but looked amazing.

Justin Compton (10th) has the muscle, just needs to dial his conditioning. He is young, he will continue to get better.

Victor Martinez (11th) would have been top 8 in any other Mr. Olympia the last 10 years. Unfortunately this year was stacked.

21797-roelly-winklaar-83_final.jpg35912-dallas-mccarver-15_final

Everyone else:

Nathan DeAsha (12th) could have been anywhere between 8-12. He looked insane. See if he does damage at the Arnold next year.

Steve Kuclo (13th) needs to go back to the drawing board. Looked okay. Not his best.

Ben Pakulski (14th) nailed his conditioning but everyone knows that his legs are world class, and everything else isn’t.

Akim Williams, Michael Lockett, Lukas Osladil, and Brandon Curry weren’t ready.

Hall of Famer Kevin Levrone:

I cannot talk bad about a champion like Kevin. Kevin is 52 years old, and had only been training for a few months when he jumped into the Mr. Olympia on a special invite. I hope I look half that good at 52!

1257-kevin-levrone-223_final

Summary:

Phil wins #6. This ties him with the great Dorian Yates. He is now one behind Arnold Schwarzenegger and two behind Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney. I do think that talent is slowly catching up to Phil, but the judges like what Phil brings each year.

Kai Greene was on Jimmy Fallon and not at the Mr. Olympia. Hard to believe that is true. He may have missed two opportunities the past two years to beat Phil.

Can Shawn win next year? Will Dexter continue to compete? Can Big Ramy, Bonac, Compton, Cedric, and McCarver make the gains necessary to win? Will Phil continue his dominance? We will know in 12 short months.

Who Will Win the 2016 Arnold Classic?

mainbanner

If you read my 2015 Arnold Classic prediction you saw that I hit the nail on the head and predicted Dexter Jackson to win his 5th Arnold Classic. I predicted the remaining top 5, but had them out of order. Branch Warren surprised many and pushed Dexter.  Dexter will not be competing, so we will not have a repeat champion!

I will be at the 2016 Arnold Classic and will be posting photos and result analysis.

Who will win the 2016 Arnold Classic?

The surprise of the year happened when Kai Greene put his hat into the ring. Kai hasn’t competed at the Arnold since 2010. He has won 2 and is looking for #3. Kai is the odds on favorite, but who will win the 2016 Arnold Classic?

#1. Kai Greene

No one really knows the condition Kai Greene is currently in. The photos and videos he has posted has shown him in a hoodie. If he comes into the condition and size he is known for, no one can beat him.

#2. Justin Compton

Last year I picked him to be second, and I will keep him at second this year. Justin Compton is the future of bodybuilding. He is still young. It is scary because he keeps growing. If anyone on stage can compete with Kai’s size, it is Justin.

Capture

#3. Cedric McMillan

Cedric didn’t have a very good 2015. He dropped out of the Mr. Olympia at the last minute, and struggled getting in shape in other contests. Cedric has the dream physique and has Arnold Schwarzenegger’s backing, but his conditioning is always a little off.

15973-cedric-mcmillan-281_final

#4. Evan Centopani

Evan is a top tier bodybuilder, and if he nails his conditioning to match his size, it will vault him into the top 2 or 3. Evan took some time off last year and has been really working on his diet eating quality foods and such. I hope he nails it.

9925-evan-centopani-171_final

#5. Branch Warren

A couple weeks ago I predicted that Branch Warren will fall off this year. I actually had Josh Lenartowicz at #4. I think Branch will finish in the top 5 in the Arnold, but do believe he is on the downside.

Dark Horses:

  • Josh Lenartowicz has the size and conditioning to be in the top 4. Just hasn’t competed against the best of the best yet.
  • Johnnie Jackson has looked really good in prep pictures. Johnnie is a humble dude and one of my favorite bodybuilders.
  • Fouad Abiad is a top tier bodybuilder but from prep pictures I’m not sure if he will be ready.
  • Toney Freeman is the king of social media pictures. He would win every competition if it was online. His conditioning is insane right now, but I’m not sure how it will look in Columbus. Toney turns 50 this year and I want him to compete in the Olympia.

Not Ready Yet:

  • Cody Montgomery is the youngest Mr. USA in history. His conditioning is top notch but doesn’t have the size yet to compete with the big dogs.

Best Bodybuilders 2010-2015

BannerCommander

In my third installment of my “Best Bodybuilders” series (fourth if you count the most shredded bodybuilders ever), I will be focusing from 20100-2015. You will see Phil Heath, Dennis Wolf, Kai Greene, and others who have won major titles during this time. While the 90’s was about shredded mass, and the 2000’s were about size, where 2010-2015 was a mixture of the two. I wouldn’t say that it is better than either decade, but it is very much its own style of bodybuilding.

10. Justin Compton- Questionable Pick, Europa Orlando Winner, Top 3 at Arnold Classic

tumblr_nv74l7szwv1tzj1x0o1_400

9.  Victor Martinez- Won several shows, finished 3rd 2011 Arnold, 4th 2011 Mr Olympia.

8.  Mamdouh Elssbiay “Big Ramy”- 2 x New York Pro, 1 x Arnold Brazil

41262-mamdouh-elssbiay-389_final

7. Shawn Rhoden- Top 4 Mr. Olympia 2012-2015

6. Jay Cutler- 4 x Mr. Olympia winner won his last in 2010, Runner-Up 2011, Retired

JayCutler-2ndMrO-FLX-BillComstock-887.jpg

5. Branch Warren- Winner of 2 Arnold Classics

4. Dennis Wolf- 2014 Arnold Winner, Top 6 Mr. Olympia 2010-2015

3. Dexter Jackson- Winner of 2 Arnold Classics between 2010-2015, 2nd Place Mr. Olympia 2015.

dexter-jackson-of-jacksonville-fla-1-e1425796351787

2. Kai Greene- Winner of Arnold Classic 2010, 3 straight 2nd’s at Mr. Olympia 2012-2014

521391

1. Phil Heath- 5 time Mr. Olympia Winner 2010-2015

8895-phil-heath-251_final

Summary: I’d put prime Ronnie Coleman (98-2001) or prime Dorian Yates above anyone in this time frame. I’d also put Flex Wheeler, Shawn Ray, Nasser, and a few others up there also. The amount of mass can compete with any year, but the conditioning has been lost.

Honorable Mentions: Toney Freeman, Johnnie Jackson, Cedric McMillian,  and William Bonac.

Arecoline may cause cancer, why is it in Kai Greene’s “Savage Roar” and DLB’s “EWP” preworkouts?

Arecoline may cause premature births, cancer, and thyroid issues. Why is it in Dana Linn Bailey’s and Kai Greene’s preworkout?

header

I am a huge Kai Greene and Dana Linn Bailey fan, but I do not recommend Kai’s Pre-Workout “Savage Roar” or DLB’s “EWP” to anyone. A review of the ingredients show that Arecoline is an active ingredient. I originally learned about this substance from Evan Centopani (Bodybuilder) on the Muscular Development Forums.

Here is some information on the ingredient:  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4080659/

In summary: can cause hypothyroidism, cancer, premature births, and other horrible side effects. (Graphic Photo below of mouth cancer caused by active ingredient)

Arecoline is probably “safe” in small dosages and for short periods of time (take this preworkout for a few months, then switch to another one), but who would chance it? It isn’t going to make you bigger, more ripped, or better. Although I feel that Kai and Dana have almost nothing to do with their products (shocker), I think this is a horrible business move by the company that creates their products. Why put something in your products that will probably be struck down by FDA regulation? You will lose money by pulling it off the shelves. Of course I could be wrong, every kid in America but be buying this because of the face on the product. Money > Health of Customers.

Need a good preworkout? I like MegaWatt HD by 1st Phorm

It has creatine, it has beta-alanine, it has caffeine, it has yohimbine, and it has other stimulants to help you get jacked for the gym. 60 servings explosive servings for less than $45.

Note: Please read the ingredients label of your favorite supplements and make sure that you understand what each ingredient does to your body. The FDA doesn’t regulate supplements like prescription medication and many times supplements hold ingredients that can cause dire consequences.
